Have you ever wondered why certain events, situations and relationships have kept you from living a happy life? It's as if you're reliving your past and you can't seem to let it go. You define yourself by your past experiences in identifying who you are, what you say and what you do. Something could happen that may remind you of a past experience that was painful. Someone may talk about a subject that immediately takes you back to an experience that you would like to forget. You may feel sad, tired, unhappy and just plain worn out. Then out of the past the recurring memories and feelings that were once so painful, comes at you with a force that causes you to pay attention and to remember.

You have a choice to wallow in self-pity or to pull yourself together. Being that the experience has already occurred, you now have a conscious choice to continue letting the memory control your present and future life or you can learn lessons from the experience so that it doesn't need to happen again. Through awareness, you now have a choice about what you want to do.

Does it make a difference about the choices that your make in your life? Think about it. You can choose to be happy, you can choose to have a lot of pain or you can learn from your experiences so you can live a happier life. It is entirely up to you. You cannot change the past but you can change the present. You have control now, at this moment, to change your perspectives on life. At this moment, you have control over what you now think, say and do. Do you see how your perspectives of life is in your radar and you are in charge?

The first step begins with forgiving yourself for any part that you have played willingly or unwillingly that may have negatively affected your life or the lives of others. Forgive yourself for anything that may have happened to you, even it wasn't your fault. When you forgive yourself it enables you to feel free again, free to live your best life from now on. When you forgive yourself then you're giving permission to love yourself and to learn from your experiences. You also give yourself the permission to forgive others. Self-love and self-worth can totally change your life and the lives of others.

When you forgive yourself first then you can forgive others. This is the key that will open the doors to a way of life that most people only dream of. You can have it now. This dream can be your reality. Begin with that first step.
